The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres (CKCHC) have expanded their primary care family once again. Dr. Malay Shah will join the CKCHC family effective June 10, 2024, as a full-time physician at the Chatham CHC site.

Dr. Shah received his undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney in Medicine and Surgery and completed his fellowship at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds a Diploma in Child Health from Sydney Children’s Hospital Network at the University of Sydney. Since August 2018, Dr. Shah has been working as a family practice physician at Gateway Health in Wangaratta, Australia. In 2023, Dr. Shah joined the College of Family Physicians of Canada to practice medicine in Canada completing locum work with CKCHC this past year.

“My family and I are very excited to be joining the Chatham-Kent community. Earlier this year, I had an excellent opportunity to complete a locum position with the CKCHC, which I found to be quite similar to my practice in Australia. I appreciate the many health challenges that are faced by regional and rural towns, and look forward to using my experience to support this community” commented Dr. Shah.

Dr. Shah states, “My wife and her family have lived in Chatham-Kent for over 40 years. We appreciate the many opportunities that Chatham-Kent has to offer, and we are looking forward to raising our family here. Many thanks to the CKCHC and the rest of the community for the very warm welcome!”

Heather Carnahan, Director of Clinical and Client Services commented, “we are honoured that Dr. Shah chose CKCHC to begin his career in family practice in Ontario. Dr. Malay Shah brings extraordinary talent to the CKCHC, which is a great compliment to the remarkable team we already have in place. We want to thank Dr. Shah for choosing to close his successful practice in Australia to join CHC and enabling us to further expand access to primary care and assist in improving the health and wellbeing of the community”.

Dr. Shah will not be accepting new clients at this time.
