The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres are governed by members of the community. Their knowledge and expertise ensure that our centres are providing services that meet the needs of our clients and the community.

Meet CKCHC’s Board of Directors:

Steve Brown, President

  • Appointed to the Board June 28, 2017
  • Honours Bachelor of Commerce from University of Windsor
  • Chartered Professional Accountant
  • Director, Financial Services, Deputy Treasurer for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent
  • Ex-officio of the CKCHC Board Resources and Risk Committee,
  • Chair of the CKCHC Board Governance/Nominations Committee

Art Schaafsma, Vice President

  • Appointed to the Board June 25, 2019
  • Bachelor of Science (Agr) Masters of Science, PhD University of Guelph – Crop Protection
  • Professor, Field Crop Protection Department, Plan Agr. OAC.
  • Member of the CKCHC Board Quality Committee and Governance/Nominations Committee

Maggie Abbey, Secretary

  • Appointed to the board on October 20, 2020
  • Digital Marketing certificate, Columbia School of Business 
  • National Marketing Manager Pride Seeds
  • Member of the CKCHC Board Governance and Nominations Committee

Joey Vandermeer, Director, Board Liaison

  • Appointed to the Board June 27, 2018
  • Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Laurentian University
  • Project Manager – Tax System Modernization, Municipality of Chatham-Kent
  • Serves as the Alliance for Healthier Communities Board Liaison

Allen Deleary, Director

  • Appointed to the Board March 12, 2019

  Tabitha Cook, Director

Kaitlyn Morrison, Director

  • Appointed to the board on June 30, 2021

Victor Ferreira, Director

  • Appointed to the board on February 8, 2022
  • CPA – Chartered Professional Accountant of Ontario Designation
  • Bachelor of Arts Honors Kinesiology, University of Western Ontario, London, ON
  • Financial Analyst I – Corporate Accounting, Municipality of Chatham-Kent
  • Member of the CKCHC Board Resources and Risk Committee

Tyler White,  WIFN Board Representative

  • Councillor for Walpole Island First Nation.
  • Appointed by the WIFN Community Well Being committee, which was then approved by council to be the portfolio/representative to join the CKCHC Meetings.

Who is eligible to apply?

  • Must be over 18 years of age and live in the Chatham-Kent area
  • Must support the CKCHC mission, vision and values and the Model of Health and Wellbeing

 What is the time commitment?

  • Volunteer 6-8 hours per month by attending one Board meeting per month and may also participate on a Board Committee
  • Board committees meet at least quarterly for 2-3 hours
  • Participate in Board education sessions or planning and decision-making sessions

Board Meetings

Meetings are held at 5:30 pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, unless otherwise notified.
