CHATHAM-KENT COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRES HOSTS GALA

Funds will support  program for at risk youth

CHATHAM-KENT – The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres hosted its inaugural Imagine, Believe, Achieve gala at the stunning and historic Chatham-Kent Armoury on November 19 with all proceeds raised going towards the Chatham-Kent Rebound program.

The event was hosted by Greg Hetherington and Eleena DeBakker and featured the talents of local youth with dance performances provided by the Cornell School of Irish Dance and Alexandria’s Dance Studio with live vocal performances by Jordan Roy, Chelsea Canniff, Lucas Roe, Steven Imeson, and the Chatham Kent Secondary School choir. Chatham’s own singer, songwriter, performer Brooke Nicholls wrapped up the evening with an amazing show.

Silent and live auctions were held with two lucky guests each walking away with a pair of sparkling diamond ear rings courtesy of D.S. Walker Jewellers of Wallaceburg and Twin Peaks Roofing of Chatham.

Charlene Mitchell delivered an inspirational and powerful keynote address focusing on the importance of health and wellness for every person of Chatham-Kent and how the health centres are helping to achieve this by bringing programs such as Rebound to our community.

The program is scheduled to begin early next year and will consist of ten weekly, evening sessions helping youth who are at risk and who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives. The aim of the program is to teach and reinforce basic life skills, social skills, and cognitive skills that will enable young people to get started on sound decision making, the development of a sense of personal responsibility, goal setting and the building of a healthy self image.
